Slate Roofing
Slate Roofing in Texas
A slate roof is made of individual pieces of natural stone, each one nailed to the roof deck and lapped over the slates below it. When a slate slips out of place, the cause is often the nails holding it rather than the slate itself.
A cracked, broken or slipped slate can usually be replaced on its own, slid in under the course above and secured without disturbing the slates around it. Leaks also come from the flashing at valleys, chimneys and walls, which may need attention before any of the slate does.
We repair and replace slate roofs. Replacement comes up when the slates themselves are flaking, soft or breaking across large areas, or when so many fasteners have failed that the roof can no longer be held together one piece at a time.
