Shingle Roofing
Shingle Roofing in Texas
Shingles are what most people picture when they think of a house roof. Each course overlaps the one below it, so water runs down across the layers and off the edge, with underlayment beneath the shingles as a second layer of protection.
Because the roof is made of many small pieces, a lot of shingle problems are local. A shingle cracked by a falling branch or a few torn loose along an edge can be replaced on their own. Leaks don't always start at the shingles either. The flashing at chimneys and walls and the boots around vent pipes are common sources too.
Wear is a different problem. When the shingles have aged across the whole roof, patching one spot doesn't change the condition of the rest, and replacement makes more sense. We do both, and we'll tell you which your roof needs once we've seen it.
